Refund and Cancellation Policy
Last updated: September 28, 2026 · Effective: September 28, 2026
Summary
- The 14-day free trial is your evaluation period. Use it to decide whether Inherent works for you before you pay anything.
- You can cancel anytime. You keep access until the end of the current billing period, with no further charges after that.
- We do not refund partial months or unused usage. Refunds happen only in the specific cases listed below.
The Free Trial Is the Evaluation Period
New accounts get a 14-day trial with full Pro capability, not a limited demo. We do not ask for a card to start the trial, so no charge can happen by accident. Use the trial to connect real, representative content and decide whether Inherent fits your workflow before you commit to a paid plan.
How to Cancel
You can cancel your subscription at any time. Go to the billing page in your dashboard, select Manage subscription to open the Paddle customer portal, and choose Cancel.
Cancellation is effective at the end of your current billing period. You will not be charged again after that. Paddle sends you a confirmation email once the cancellation is processed.
Cancelling does not delete your data immediately. See What Happens to Your Data below for what happens to your content after cancellation.
Refunds
We do not prorate, and we do not give refunds or credits for:
- Partial months of a billing period you already started.
- Unused storage.
- Unused requests.
- Forgetting to cancel before a renewal.
- Not using the service during a period you were subscribed.
We issue a refund in these cases:
- A duplicate charge.
- A charge made after we had already confirmed your cancellation.
- We end your subscription for our own convenience, as described in our Terms of Service under Suspension and Termination; in that case we refund prepaid fees for the unused period.
- A refund required by the law of your country, for example a statutory consumer right, where such a right applies to a business subscription like this one.
Paddle, as the Merchant of Record for your purchase, processes any refund we approve, back to your original payment method. Refunds are usually visible within 5–10 business days, though your bank or card issuer may take longer to post it.
Failed Payments
If a renewal payment fails, Paddle retries it automatically over the following days, and you get email notices so you can update your payment method. If every retry fails, your account moves into the same restricted state as an expired trial: the dashboard becomes read-only, API requests are refused, and syncs from connected sources pause. Access is restored automatically as soon as payment succeeds.
No data is deleted while your subscription is past due for a failed payment. That restricted state does not start the trial grace period's deletion clock. If we eventually close the account for non-payment, what is described below under What Happens to Your Data applies from that point, including the notice by email before any future scheduled deletion.
Price Changes
If we change the price of the Pro plan, we give you at least 30 days' notice by email before the new price applies. If you would rather not pay the new price, cancel before your next renewal and you will not be charged it.
What Happens to Your Data
After you cancel a paid subscription, nothing is deleted the moment you cancel. Your access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, and the dashboard then becomes read-only. We keep your content rather than deleting it at that point, so it stays retrievable: you can download your documents individually from the dashboard, and you can email support [at] inherent.sh to ask us to export everything for you or to delete it. We have not built an automated deletion schedule for cancelled paid accounts, and we will give you notice by email before we implement and run one.
If your 14-day free trial expires without a paid subscription, we keep your data — documents, workspaces, conversations, API keys and connections — for a grace period of at least 30 days, and we email you a warning before it is deleted. If you subscribe during that grace period, full access is restored with no data loss.
For the full retention schedule, including backups and billing records, see How Long We Keep Data in our Privacy Policy. Our Terms of Service also cover billing and cancellation in more detail.
Chargebacks
If you believe you were charged in error, please contact us first at support [at] inherent.sh so we can look into it and, if one of the cases above applies, arrange the refund through Paddle. Filing a chargeback on a charge that turns out to be valid may lead to your account being suspended until the dispute is resolved.
